Lost Wallet

Terms

The deal

Lost Wallet helps you make a playbook: what to do when your wallet is lost or stolen, in the order that protects you, with the numbers to call, and a place to log each call as you make it. It is free. It is available as a website and as an app for iOS and Android, and these terms apply to all three alike. Using any of them means you agree to these terms.

Who we are

Lost Wallet is run by one person in Westbrook, Maine. Write to info@lostwallet.io.

What we are not

We are not your bank, a credit bureau, a law firm, or identity theft insurance. We do not cancel cards for you. The phone numbers in your playbook come from what you type and from a short public directory of issuer and agency numbers. Issuers change those numbers. Check one that fails against the back of a statement.
The playbook is a checklist and a record, not a report. Ticking a step off or logging a call in Lost Wallet is your note that you did it; it does not tell anyone anything. A card is cancelled only when its bank says so, a fraud alert exists only when a bureau has placed it, and a police report exists only when the police have it. The log helps you prove when you reported; it is not the reporting.
The liability rules the playbook quotes are the FTC's and CFPB's summaries of federal law for cards issued in the United States. They are a guide, not legal advice, and your bank's own terms may protect you more.

Your part

Add only your own cards. Keep the playbook you print or save somewhere safe, and not in the wallet it describes. Do not try to break or overload the site or the apps.

No guarantees

Lost Wallet is provided as is, for free. We work to keep it correct and available, but we cannot promise it will always be either. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for losses from using it.

If something goes wrong

Write to info@lostwallet.io and tell us what happened. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maine. Either of us may take a claim to small claims court where it qualifies; otherwise, claims go to the state or federal courts in Cumberland County, Maine, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring them closer to home.

Changes

If these terms change, this page and its date change with them. Keep using Lost Wallet after that and the new terms apply.
